How Serious Are We About Making Disciples?

Bill Allison, and Cadre ministries has been a leading voice in the disciple making movement recently. His questions are always relevant, challenging, and born out of love. This time of the year I begin to do some long range program forecasting for the upcoming fall and winter seasons of youth ministry. Essentially, I ask the question, "How and what are we going to spend our time and resources on?" So, the question of how serious we are about making disciples has been on my mind. Bill offer a simple and effective diagram to really put our intentions, efforts, and actions in perspective. And, just as relevant as it is for our youth ministry to ask and wrestle with this question, it is important for us as parents to do the same.

If we really want our students to become life-long disciples of Jesus, how are we leading them into that? Here is what Bill wrote:

When it comes to disciplemaking like Jesus... 1. How much do your two circles overlap? 2. How much do you want them to overlap? 3. What is your next step? I dare you to process these three questions with complete honesty with a few close friends. - See more at: http://www.cupojoewithbill.com/2014/05/so-you-say-you-believe-in-disciplemaking.html#sthash.qsDT61D3.dpuf

When it comes to disciplemaking like Jesus...
1.  How much do your two circles overlap?
2.  How much do you want them to overlap? (This is a really challenging one, if we're honest.)
3. What is your next step?

I dare you to process these three question with complete honesty with a few close friends.
